Generally, politicians play the human factor during election campaigns. They embrace diversity in order to win an election or get re-elected. They fake humility, hobnob with the rich, the poor, the vulnerable, etc.
Even children hugging and kissing are not left out. They do all these to appear human to the already washed-out electorate.
But Donald Trump, the President-elect of the USA, went against the norm during his bid for the White House.
Instead of hugging and kissing children, Trump expunged them from his campaign rallies. Instead of embracing diversity, he went against the US minorities – Blacks, Latinos, Asians, Muslims, name them, were all lampooned.
He, even, mocked a reporter’s disability. Trump said to his fellow female aspirant that she hasn’t got a face that can win an election. In other words, she’s ugly.
In fact, humility wasn’t on Trump’s electoral map during the campaigns. He refused to release his tax return against the tradition of the US presidential campaigns. Rather, he talked about how smart he was to use the system to avoid paying federal taxes.
In truth, in an ideal situation, considering politicians’ usual attitude during elections, Trump wouldn't have won the presidential election. But, he won.
Besides, in my opinion, I doubt that Donald Trump got involved in the US presidential contest to win it. I believe he saw the whole thing as one big reality show. But, as time passed, he realised that he could win because an ideal situation has been recreated by his rhetoric.
It soon occurred to Trump that he has done something right to win the presidential election. He mentioned immigration – how he will deport Mexican rapists and build wall to prevent them from re-entering America.
Immigration, or integration, or diversity, mention it, is a phenomenon that most white-Americans dislike in their private homes, but won’t say openly to avoid being labelled racists. Trump knew it, or suddenly realised it, and used the theme knowing that it will win him votes.
And so, Trump told this segment that look like him (white-Americans) to join him and make America ‘white again’, coined as to make America great again. And they did; and he won the election.
Now that Trump has won the election, reality (not the one he’s used to) is gradually creeping in. He has started scaling down most of his campaigns promises. For instance, the wall along Mexican border will partly be fencing.
Trump says he will retain part of OBAMACARE, which he now calls ‘terrific’. That means he didn’t know anything about the healthcare programme when he said he’ll scrap it during the campaigns.
In addition, during his visit to the White House to meet Obama, a body language expert, Ms Wood, told the Daily Mail; “My read is that [Trump] has learned something he didn't know before… “Trump holds his own hands as he begins speaking which is an indication he needs to comfort himself.”
In the coming months, Trump is going to learn more. The ‘men in grey suit’ will surely inform him that America’s interest is permanent. And that interest is simply to control the world.
And America cannot control the world by closing its doors. If you close your doors and draw your blinds how would you know what’s happening outside your house.
Moreover, it is said, when America sneezes; the world catches cold. Thus, how would the world catch cold if it doesn’t hear or feel the America’s sneeze? So, if Trump builds walls and sends away Muslims, etc. those countries will retaliate by sending away Americans in their countries.
If Donald Trump repudiates America’s commitment to free trade, other countries will retaliate. If they say no more selling of Samsung phones in the USA or introduce higher tariffs, other countries will tell APPLE to sell their iPhones only in America.
And then China will perhaps liquidate its $1.24 trillion America Treasury bills, which is about 30% of America’s total debt ($4 trillion). We all know what will happen to the US Dollars if China sells off.
Anyway, on 20/January/2017 when Donald Trump would be sworn in as the 45th President of America, we will definitely read a letter from Abraham Lincoln to Trump’s teacher as follows:
“My son starts school today. It is all going to be strange and new to him for a while and I wish you would treat him gently. It is an adventure that might take him across continents. All adventures that probably include wars, tragedy and sorrow. To live this life will require faith, love and courage.”
“So dear Teacher [at the White House], will you please take him by his hand and teach him things he will have to know, teaching him – but gently, if you can.”
